Tennessee Rehabilitation Center

We just got back from the tour at the TRC. Very interesting. Our first tour was at the TBI unit at 11. It was about one hour long. We talked with one of the counselors and she said if Bree is accepted her evaluation takes anywhere from 3 to 10 days. We would take her to the center where we would help her set up her room. The rooms have 2 twin beds, 2 chests and 2 desks. Now remember this is an Air Force base so the rooms are the old barracks. Cement block walls and floors and longs hallways. The bathrooms and showers are in one room. Like at the campgrounds. We would stay for ordination and then Brianna will be on her own till after the evaluation. Brianna stays there on campos till all the testing is done. Once that is done then we would be called back for the recommendation. If they believe they can help Bree then she would come home usually it is for the week-end then she would head back they would give her another room and we would start the first day over again and then have to say good-bye for her to start her training. The training will last about 7 months. She will be able to come home on the week-ends. Now she could stay longer if she also trys to take vocational training, like in business. That would add another 3 to 8 months. They have school most holidays, it looks like they take 4th of July week off and Thanksgiving week along with 2 weeks at Christmas. The center has all kinds of activities, bowling, pool, crafts, there are TV set up with play stations and then they can go on outings. I could go on and on. It is unbelievabe. The Lord has answered our prayers. We just pray that she gets in.

Concert at the Winery

We had a blast last night. Sumner Crest Winery here in Portland have free concerts at their winery. Our new friends Barb and Carl from Conn went last month and said they had a really good time. So we gave it a try last night. There was a classic car show and a local Oldies Band called 4 on the Floor who played. The car show was from 3 t0 about 5:45 and then the band started playing around 6 to 9. We got there around 4:00 set up our chairs and then Lee and I cruised around the car show. Bree stayed with the chairs because she did not want to look at any stupid cars. We went into the wine shop and got a bottle of wine to take on our outing to Myrtle Beach. We got back to our chairs and as the people started arriving we realized that our snacks of pretzels and dip and diet pepsi were out of their league. People starting setting up tables with candles and a spread to die for. Shrimp, cheeses, checkers, chips, olives, pickles, fried chicken and so on. They were buying bottles of wine by the cases. It was party time. These were old farts. You know people like our parents. Wait they knew the oldies from the 60's and 70's. Wait they were singing the songs note for note. OH NO....THEY WERE OUR AGE!!!! Are we those old farts ? :(
There I was dancing in my camp chair when this lady from behind me came up and put her hand on my shoulder and said "Honey have you gotten up on the dance floor tonight and danced to any of the songs?" "No, I giggled" "Well honey you need to because you have been dancing your ass off there in your chair and you are really good." Oh my goodness!!! Then they sang Earth Angel and I told Lee OK we have to dance to this one. We got out there on that grass dance floor and danced under the star lite night. Oh we were in LOVE. hehe. Lee will post pictures later.
Love ya'll
Take care

Weight Watchers update

Last night was weigh in. Bree and Lee stayed the same I lost 1 more lb. I have now lost a total of 11.2. I have .08 to go to reach by 10% targeted goal. My goal is to reach 110 pounds. The last day of this session is 10/6. We will not be there for that weigh in because we will be at Myrtle Beach. Lee and I signed up last night for the next nine week session. We did not sign up Brianna because we are not sure when or if the training school will happen. Lee just called me to the kitchen. We have a squirrel that climbed up our bird feeder and he was perched on the edge of one of the houses just munching away. It's time to go and get the guard so they can't climb the pole. It is only 54 outside this morning. I tried to sit on the patio but it was just a little to chilly for my old bones. I need heavy PJs and robe. I will have to see what Santa brings me.
We pray that all our friends and family have a great day.

First Tennessee Camp-Out

http://s366.photobucket.com/albums/oo103/_LeeB_/Montgomery%20Bell%209-08/

Well we just got back from our first TN Camp-Out. What a great group of people. Even our shy daughter, Brianna, liked them. There were 10 rigs. As always lots and lots of good food at the pot luck on Saturday. During the day we had a treasure hunt. It was like Nat'l Treasure. Lee and I would never be able to be on the Amazing Race. We were so lost. But we had a great time. The Camp-Out was at Montgomery Belle. A very nice State Park about 1 1/2 hours south west of Portland. Then after the dinner we got to watch Nat'l Treasure II on the wall of the bath house. It was great. We were all sitting around in our camping chairs watching the movie. We had to leave early this morning, believe it or not but we were on the road @ 7:30, because of IKE. It has been VERY windy here. Not much rain but a lot of wind. Lee took a lot of pictures and will post them later.
We wish everyone a great evening.
Talk to you later.

Time Flys even when you are retired

The days go by so fast. If I could get my lazy butt out of bed before 7am my days would be so much longer, but I am retired and I don't have to. I just realized I did not let you guys know about Alex. Well it looks like its is 99.99999% a go for England. If he goes it will be by 2/28/09. He will need to sign up for another 4 yrs but he is thinking about signing up for 6 yrs.
Things are still in the works for Brianna we have an appt for the tour of TRC on 9/25. I sure hope this is what we think it is. Our pastor's wife works with a gal who's daughter went thru this program and we are going to have dinner with them hopefully next week.
Last night was WW. Bree lost .6 for a total of 9.6 lbs lost so far, I lost 1.6 lbs for a total of 10.2 lbs lost so far and Mr. Brandt lost another 2 lbs for a grand total of 23.8 lbs lost. I am so surprise that we lost since we did not have to go and weigh in last Monday because of the holiday and we kind of went crazy and cheated a couple of days. Then is week-end we are going on our first TN rally and the potluck looks great. We will need to really walk a lot. It has been a gray day here today with a little bit of a breeze the temp is 73.1. I just wish it would storm. I love the storms out here. Lee and I think they are great Bree doesn't like the thunder.
Well I have a thousand things to get done. We have been shopping all day for the trip so I am running behind.
Take care and we really miss everyone.

Tennessee Rehabilitation Center

Yesterday Bree had her appt with the Vocational Rehab. What a positive meeting. It seems that Tenn is one of 8 states that have this program for brain injury individuals. This is a program where if she qualifies they will do extensive testing mentally and physically. She will go to this training campus where they will determine what her strengths and weaknesses are. Then they will do job training for a job that fits her. We have an appt for 9/25 to tour TRV. Please keep Bree in your prayers that this will be something that she will be able to do and that she will like it. Right now she thinks that we are just trying to get rid of her. She just does not understand that she needs to move on with her life becuase we will not always be here. But anyway Lee and I were very excited about this.
Gotta go for now.
Take care

Yesterday I KILLED a Intruder

We HAD a intruder into our life yesterday. Allow me to explain I was called into the den by my Daughter to see a HUGE (in her eyes) bug. Me not having my glasses and seeing something! Oh my I thought. So I went and got my glasses and The Bug KILLER.. aka; Fly Swatter. Upon returning to the den there sat my Daughter pointing in the direstion of "The Intruder" (and holding up her fingers about 2 inches apart indicating on the size of "The Intruder") showing me exactly where the "Monster" is. Sure enough Lurking in the shadows was "The Intruder". So I drew back my weapon and struck with the force of the Bomb that hit Hiroshima. "The Inturder" was DEAD, Destroyed, Smashed... I had done it....

Great Day

WOW what a great day this has been. I got good news today from the doctors that my A1C test was only 6.1. For non-diabetics it is 4.5 to 6.0. So I do believe the WW and the walking is helping. I was so happy that I started crying. My last test in May was 7.2 and I was hoping for 7.1 or maybe 7.0, never did I think I could get it down to 6.1.
Oh Brianna is a Happy Camper. Ms Terry has gotten her a subscription to Country Weekly and the first one came in today. Brianna says thank you very much Terry.
Then we got a phone call from Alex and on Thursday he goes in for a meeting and he believes he is going to be reassigned to England. He is also a Happy Camper. I told him we would pray for him. He wants to go there so bad.
Tomorrow Bree goes the the Dept. of Rehab. We are praying that she will be able to get into some type of job training program. We will let you all know about that on Wednesday.
I am busy typing recipes up. Our church ladies are putting together a cookbook for a fundraiser. Well I need to get back to the typing of the recipes so bye for now.
Enjoy the day and remember we love you all.
