Merry Christmas from our House to Yours

-2 to 23 to 64

Yesterday when I got up it was -2 (yes that is a minus in front of that 2) today it is 23 and tomorrow the high is suppose to be 64... Welcome to south so I am told. I don't walk when it is that cold but I try and do my Wii Fit. (Exercise) I really miss the walking. I bought a MP3 player and I bundle up and go walking. I walk for about a 1/2 hour all though the neighborhood. I find it amazing that everyone (and I mean everyone) waves as they pass by. Of course I wave back and sometimes I start the wave but still if you were to do that in Ceres you would have the fear of being shot at.

Life here is so much different we miss our friends and family tremulously (especially at this time of the year) but we have a video camera and we were able to hook up at the "Myers Family Christmas" last Sunday and that was fun. We are completely ready for Christmas. It does not look like Alex is going to make it home for Christmas or before he get stationed in England. That is very disappointing. But I have to remember that life goes on as we have....... Have a very Merry Christmas everyone....

Gaylord Opryland Hotel 2008

This is the Gaylord Hotel it is right next to the Grand Ol Opry. This place is HUGE I think it has at least 1100 rooms and is the largest hotel in the world that is under 1 roof. The pictures do not do it justice. It has restaurants, shopping and is completely temperature controlled be it Zero out side or 100 it always is between 68 and 72 degrees... The first picture is of the 3 of us and the very last picture is the outside. The rest of them are inside....

To View this the best way is to click on the picture and after it opens click slideshow on the left side that says slideshow and it should open to full screen and the slideshow will start....

Rockettes

WOW!!!
Last night was our trip to the Grand Ole Opry House to see th Radio City Christmas Spectacular starring The Rockettes. It was awesome. It was 2 hours long with a 10 minute intermission. Worth every penny we spent. The Parade of the Wooden Soldiers was amazing. And the final scene. The Living Nativity. The presentation of "The Living Nativity" has been a part of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular since 1933. They had live camels, donkeys and sheep on stage and the costumes were beatuiful. Bree and I have decided that this will become a Christmas Tradition for us.
If you ever get a chance to see it jump on it.
Enjoy your day and be safe. 22 more shopping days till Christmas. Go out there and spend, spend, spend.

Light Dusting

Well our first snow fall. Yippee!!! Bree got up at 7:00 looked out the front room window said "Cool" and went back to bed. She was so impressed. It is now 8:37 the temp is 32 and it is windy and misty rain mixed w/snow. Nothing sticks. I was very impressed with the snow I got up at 6:15, Lee said now he knows how to get me up before 7:00 just tell me it is snowing. He is so funny...NOT!! Tomorrow Bree and I go with our WOW group from church to see the Rocketts. I am so excited. I have always wanted to see them. We still are waiting to hear from TRC about Bree. Once they set up her appt we will let you all know. We hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. Tonight is WW OH we don't even want to weigh in. Oh well. It is time to get my butt in gear and start the day I have already done my 30 mins of free step on the WII Fitness and Lee is in doing his so I need to get breakfast started. Bree is resting on the day bed it is really hard sleeping for 10 hours.
Enjoy the day that the Lord has given you and be safe at what ever you do.

What A Man!!!!

Lee goes out walking every morning no matter how COLD it is. It is warmer today it is 43 @ 10:40 am. I am a wimp I will not go out to walk if it is under 40. Oh well more time needs to be spent on the WII. It is beautiful here. Right now the yards look pretty bare. Most of the trees have lost their leaves, but they were awesome before that. We are still waiting to here about the TRC. Busy at church. Last Sunday was our Homecoming dinner. They started Liberty Free Will Baptist four years ago on November 14th. The day was really nice. Bree and I will be going with our WOW (Women of Worship) group on 12/2 to see the Rocketts, then we have the Church Dedication on 12/7 and then our WOW Brunch on 12/13. Busy, Busy, Busy but I love it.
Well we are off to Costco and Sam's Club this morning.
Enjoy your day and be safe.

So much for Fall

It is 7:45pm here and it is 36 degrees. Chilly... But like we were saying it is a different kind of cold. It is like the cold that's up in the Sierras, crisp cold not like the bone chilling cold that we had in the valley when it was foggy. Sheila says at least with cold you can warm up but with the valley cold once you got cold it took forever to warm up. We are very lucky our house is very well insulated.

Neuropsychological Evaluation

Well Brianna had her evaluation this morning. Brianna said she was very nervous but she thinks she did okay. Lee went in and spoke privately with the doctor before testing and he said he saw no problem with Brianna getting into TRC, then after the testing Lee went in to see how it went. Dr. Phay said that she did very well. He was concerned about her sociability. He said she is to trusting. She thinks everyone is her friend. He said that is one of the things he will put in his report for the TRC to work on with Bree. Dr Phay said it will take him a couple of weeks to get everything typed and to Barbara (Bree's case worker) then she will send off to TRC. So we are thinking things won't get going till around the first of 2009.
Well Lee is in the livingroom doing his WII Fitness and yelling at the hula hoops. HEHEHE
I pray that everyone has a nice rest of the week and that you will all be safe.
Love and miss you all

Quiet Weekend In Tennessee

It has been a slow weekend around here. Saturday was Beautiful cool clear Skies Shelia cleaned the house (she is having a Pampered Chef Party Monday) and I worked in the yards. The trees are almost naked and the Fall colors here where better then we had hoped. Brianna is nervous about the test on Wednesday. We doubt we will get the results of the testing that day but trust us we will let everyone know on here as soon as we find out the results. Please say a prayer for her and keep her in your thoughts.....

Is this OK Terry????

Support

As I sit here watching NBC news. Rudy Giuliani was being interviewed and he is a Republican. He said it best. We are Americans no matter who wins the Presidential election we will support him.

I strongly agree with Rudy Giuliani..

Election Day

Don't forget to Vote

Here we go

We got the call last night from Dr. Phay for Brianna's Neuropsychological Evaluation. It is on Wednesday, November 12th @ 8am.
We will keep you all posted.

Pray

Well we got an e-mail from Brianna's case worker. The TRC needs Brianna to have another Neuropsychological Evaluation. So at this point we are waiting for the doctor to call to set up the appointment. The e-mail Barbara (Bree's case worker) got from TRC says she will have a two week vocational evaluation. So Barbara sees this as Brianna already being put on the list. Once Brianna goes thorough the evaluation the TRC will determine if they can help Brianna or not. If she is accepted into the program then she would be able to start the following Monday.
So at this time we are just requesting that everyone pray for Brianna. We will keep everyone informed.

WeightWatchers Update

Lee was a big loser last night he lost 6.6 lbs. He has now lost a total of 29.0 pounds. How awesome is that!! I lost .4 for a total of 10.4 lbs. Now I did have on jeans. I am sure that added at least 0ne pound. RIGHT!!?? Can't wear my little capris any more to cold. Lee is under the house checking things our right now. I took a picture of him with all the gear on. I will have him post it later.
Love all of you. I pray that the Lord watches over each and every one of you.
Have a great day and be safe in what ever you do.
We just got an e-mail from Bree's case worker and she said not to worry that we have not hear from the TRC yet. They really research each client she said. Barbara said she is going to the center on Thursday and will talk to the TBI supervisor and see if she can get any info on Bree.

Warming Back Up

At least at night it is. The highs during the day are not going to be as high though. I will say this "A Lovely Lady" in California made me a blanket as a going away gift and I have got lots of use out of it over the past few nights. THANK YOU oh so much "Lovely Lady". You know who you are :-)

I bought a MP3 player and loaded some songs on it last night. (NOT A Ipod) I really enjoy listening to music and I think this is just the ticket. Apparently you can load pictures and even full books on this crazy thing. We will have to wait and see. Shelia and Brianna have one also so I am going to be busy with music for a few days.

We hope to Drive part of the Natchez Trace Parkway which is a National Park that runs from just South/West of Nashville all the way to Natchez Mississippi. Here is a link if you would like to visit their web site and learn more. http://www.nps.gov/natr/index.htm

There are suppose to be some real good examples of the fall colors there I will post pictures later.

The counter (in the upper left corner) says 889 this morning I wonder who will be number 1000?

First 32 Degree Morning

I wanted to post this so I could keep track of it. Our house must be fairly well insulated because the inside temp is 63.

I finely tore out the last of the Pumas Grass Plants in the front yard. I also bought some Patch for the spots that were left behind from the removal this stuff is horrible to deal with and it has to be cut back every year. I am doing my best to make the yard more user friendly (By that I mean NOT SO MUCH WORK). Our yard is very nice and is the envy of the neighborhood but it is way to much work. I would like to get it to were all I had to do is mow the lawn and then every once in a while work on the planters..

Something I wanted to Share:
A very loud, unattractive, mean-acting woman walked into Wal-Mart with
her two kids, yelling obscenities at them all the way through the entrance.

The Wal-Mart Greeter said pleasantly, 'Good morning, and welcome to
Wal-Mart. Nice children you have there. Are they twins?'

The woman stopped yelling long enough to say, 'Hell no they ain't! The
oldest one's 9 and the other one's 7. Why the hell would you think they're
Twins? Are you blind, or just stupid?'

I'm neither blind nor stupid, Ma'am,' replied the greeter. 'I just
couldn't believe someone would sleep with you twice. Have a good day and
thank you for shopping at Wal-Mart.'

The Chill is in the Air

WOW Lee and I went out walking this morning. BRRRRR.......It was 44. I had on my sweats and a t-shirt and then my hooded sweat shirt. You walk a lot faster when it is chilly. All the trees are changing color and tons of leaves to rake. Sooo Lee got one of those mulching kits to go on the back of the riding lawnmower.
Weight Watcher update. We have started our new session. Brianna is not going to this one since we are hoping that she will be hearing from TRC. After 10 days of no counting points Lee gained only 3.4 lbs and I lost .6 lbs. How I lost I do not know. Lee said I paid off Diana, the gal who weighs us. But really I did not. Lee is down a total of 22.4 lbs and I am down a total of 10 lbs. Well talking about WW I need to go fix breakfast. Then Brianna and I need to get going on our Bible Study.
We pray that you all have a blessed day. Be safe and happy in what ever you are doing today.
We love and miss you all.

Brianna's case worker, Barbara, will contact us with the date that they want her to go for testing. We are busy getting ready for Myrtle Beach. Lee is outside getting the yards mowed and I am busy doing the laundry and packing the RV.
Will write more once we get on the road.

Tennessee Rehabilitation Center

We just got back from the tour at the TRC. Very interesting. Our first tour was at the TBI unit at 11. It was about one hour long. We talked with one of the counselors and she said if Bree is accepted her evaluation takes anywhere from 3 to 10 days. We would take her to the center where we would help her set up her room. The rooms have 2 twin beds, 2 chests and 2 desks. Now remember this is an Air Force base so the rooms are the old barracks. Cement block walls and floors and longs hallways. The bathrooms and showers are in one room. Like at the campgrounds. We would stay for ordination and then Brianna will be on her own till after the evaluation. Brianna stays there on campos till all the testing is done. Once that is done then we would be called back for the recommendation. If they believe they can help Bree then she would come home usually it is for the week-end then she would head back they would give her another room and we would start the first day over again and then have to say good-bye for her to start her training. The training will last about 7 months. She will be able to come home on the week-ends. Now she could stay longer if she also trys to take vocational training, like in business. That would add another 3 to 8 months. They have school most holidays, it looks like they take 4th of July week off and Thanksgiving week along with 2 weeks at Christmas. The center has all kinds of activities, bowling, pool, crafts, there are TV set up with play stations and then they can go on outings. I could go on and on. It is unbelievabe. The Lord has answered our prayers. We just pray that she gets in.

Weight Watcher Update

Well Brianna is a big loser. She lost 2.2 lbs for a total of 11.8 pounds. You Go Girl.
Lee lost .4 for a total of 24.2 lbs
and I gained one pound :( I am sure it had nothing to do with the Pampered Chef, Chocolate Bliss party I went to on Friday night. Oh well. You win a few and you lose a few.
I hope everyone has a great hump day.
Love and miss you all.

Concert at the Winery

We had a blast last night. Sumner Crest Winery here in Portland have free concerts at their winery. Our new friends Barb and Carl from Conn went last month and said they had a really good time. So we gave it a try last night. There was a classic car show and a local Oldies Band called 4 on the Floor who played. The car show was from 3 t0 about 5:45 and then the band started playing around 6 to 9. We got there around 4:00 set up our chairs and then Lee and I cruised around the car show. Bree stayed with the chairs because she did not want to look at any stupid cars. We went into the wine shop and got a bottle of wine to take on our outing to Myrtle Beach. We got back to our chairs and as the people started arriving we realized that our snacks of pretzels and dip and diet pepsi were out of their league. People starting setting up tables with candles and a spread to die for. Shrimp, cheeses, checkers, chips, olives, pickles, fried chicken and so on. They were buying bottles of wine by the cases. It was party time. These were old farts. You know people like our parents. Wait they knew the oldies from the 60's and 70's. Wait they were singing the songs note for note. OH NO....THEY WERE OUR AGE!!!! Are we those old farts ? :(
There I was dancing in my camp chair when this lady from behind me came up and put her hand on my shoulder and said "Honey have you gotten up on the dance floor tonight and danced to any of the songs?" "No, I giggled" "Well honey you need to because you have been dancing your ass off there in your chair and you are really good." Oh my goodness!!! Then they sang Earth Angel and I told Lee OK we have to dance to this one. We got out there on that grass dance floor and danced under the star lite night. Oh we were in LOVE. hehe. Lee will post pictures later.
Love ya'll
Take care

Weight Watchers update

Last night was weigh in. Bree and Lee stayed the same I lost 1 more lb. I have now lost a total of 11.2. I have .08 to go to reach by 10% targeted goal. My goal is to reach 110 pounds. The last day of this session is 10/6. We will not be there for that weigh in because we will be at Myrtle Beach. Lee and I signed up last night for the next nine week session. We did not sign up Brianna because we are not sure when or if the training school will happen. Lee just called me to the kitchen. We have a squirrel that climbed up our bird feeder and he was perched on the edge of one of the houses just munching away. It's time to go and get the guard so they can't climb the pole. It is only 54 outside this morning. I tried to sit on the patio but it was just a little to chilly for my old bones. I need heavy PJs and robe. I will have to see what Santa brings me.
We pray that all our friends and family have a great day.

First Tennessee Camp-Out

http://s366.photobucket.com/albums/oo103/_LeeB_/Montgomery%20Bell%209-08/

Well we just got back from our first TN Camp-Out. What a great group of people. Even our shy daughter, Brianna, liked them. There were 10 rigs. As always lots and lots of good food at the pot luck on Saturday. During the day we had a treasure hunt. It was like Nat'l Treasure. Lee and I would never be able to be on the Amazing Race. We were so lost. But we had a great time. The Camp-Out was at Montgomery Belle. A very nice State Park about 1 1/2 hours south west of Portland. Then after the dinner we got to watch Nat'l Treasure II on the wall of the bath house. It was great. We were all sitting around in our camping chairs watching the movie. We had to leave early this morning, believe it or not but we were on the road @ 7:30, because of IKE. It has been VERY windy here. Not much rain but a lot of wind. Lee took a lot of pictures and will post them later.
We wish everyone a great evening.
Talk to you later.

Time Flys even when you are retired

The days go by so fast. If I could get my lazy butt out of bed before 7am my days would be so much longer, but I am retired and I don't have to. I just realized I did not let you guys know about Alex. Well it looks like its is 99.99999% a go for England. If he goes it will be by 2/28/09. He will need to sign up for another 4 yrs but he is thinking about signing up for 6 yrs.
Things are still in the works for Brianna we have an appt for the tour of TRC on 9/25. I sure hope this is what we think it is. Our pastor's wife works with a gal who's daughter went thru this program and we are going to have dinner with them hopefully next week.
Last night was WW. Bree lost .6 for a total of 9.6 lbs lost so far, I lost 1.6 lbs for a total of 10.2 lbs lost so far and Mr. Brandt lost another 2 lbs for a grand total of 23.8 lbs lost. I am so surprise that we lost since we did not have to go and weigh in last Monday because of the holiday and we kind of went crazy and cheated a couple of days. Then is week-end we are going on our first TN rally and the potluck looks great. We will need to really walk a lot. It has been a gray day here today with a little bit of a breeze the temp is 73.1. I just wish it would storm. I love the storms out here. Lee and I think they are great Bree doesn't like the thunder.
Well I have a thousand things to get done. We have been shopping all day for the trip so I am running behind.
Take care and we really miss everyone.

Tennessee Rehabilitation Center

Yesterday Bree had her appt with the Vocational Rehab. What a positive meeting. It seems that Tenn is one of 8 states that have this program for brain injury individuals. This is a program where if she qualifies they will do extensive testing mentally and physically. She will go to this training campus where they will determine what her strengths and weaknesses are. Then they will do job training for a job that fits her. We have an appt for 9/25 to tour TRV. Please keep Bree in your prayers that this will be something that she will be able to do and that she will like it. Right now she thinks that we are just trying to get rid of her. She just does not understand that she needs to move on with her life becuase we will not always be here. But anyway Lee and I were very excited about this.
Gotta go for now.
Take care

Yesterday I KILLED a Intruder

We HAD a intruder into our life yesterday. Allow me to explain I was called into the den by my Daughter to see a HUGE (in her eyes) bug. Me not having my glasses and seeing something! Oh my I thought. So I went and got my glasses and The Bug KILLER.. aka; Fly Swatter. Upon returning to the den there sat my Daughter pointing in the direstion of "The Intruder" (and holding up her fingers about 2 inches apart indicating on the size of "The Intruder") showing me exactly where the "Monster" is. Sure enough Lurking in the shadows was "The Intruder". So I drew back my weapon and struck with the force of the Bomb that hit Hiroshima. "The Inturder" was DEAD, Destroyed, Smashed... I had done it....

Great Day

WOW what a great day this has been. I got good news today from the doctors that my A1C test was only 6.1. For non-diabetics it is 4.5 to 6.0. So I do believe the WW and the walking is helping. I was so happy that I started crying. My last test in May was 7.2 and I was hoping for 7.1 or maybe 7.0, never did I think I could get it down to 6.1.
Oh Brianna is a Happy Camper. Ms Terry has gotten her a subscription to Country Weekly and the first one came in today. Brianna says thank you very much Terry.
Then we got a phone call from Alex and on Thursday he goes in for a meeting and he believes he is going to be reassigned to England. He is also a Happy Camper. I told him we would pray for him. He wants to go there so bad.
Tomorrow Bree goes the the Dept. of Rehab. We are praying that she will be able to get into some type of job training program. We will let you all know about that on Wednesday.
I am busy typing recipes up. Our church ladies are putting together a cookbook for a fundraiser. Well I need to get back to the typing of the recipes so bye for now.
Enjoy the day and remember we love you all.

New Feature

I have added a New Feature to our blog. It is at the top and it has a link so you can e-mail us. (Just click on it and it should open your e-mail). I know some of you have had problems being able to leave comments. So this will make it easier for you to stop and say "Hi" we love "Hellos" and one of will respond A.S.A.P......To explain the name of the e-mail. Well when Brianna was in the 5th grade her teacher nick named her Debree (because her desk area was always a mess) and 85 with the year our kids were born. So I named the e-mail address after her title from 5th grade Debree85... Pretty cleaver HUH?

Things are changing here (weather wise) it is becoming "Fall" some of the trees are getting there colors and we can't wait... We already have a plan on going out for a ride and taking pictures to shae with family and friends.

We will be adding more stuff to the blog as we go along so STAY TUNED

Interesting Weather

OK it is August 30th and we woke up this morning "To Fog" this is really weird though it is not frezzing cold out. Ha Ha ha I will more a likely lift before I get done writing this. But it is weird and kind of eerie. Shows how much moisture is in the air. Our bird feeder has attracted a "HAWK" and we thing her/she drove away the birds that normally feed. I am going to try and get a picture of him/her. We hope he don't stick around and the birds come back. We miss seeing the Red Cardinals and the Yellow Canaries along with the rest of them.

Make It A Great Day.....

Check out our friends blog and see how close they are to the Nascar race track in California...

First Crash

We where coming to the end of our 2 1/2 mile walk. Bree was in front going a little to fast she made her turn into the drive way and crashed. She now has road rash on her chin. Of course Bree was the drama queen. We were trying to get to her as fast as we could but we are old and fat and we were very tired from the walk. She will survive but no one else has ever fallen off a bike!! Oh well I am sure she will forget about it as seen as we get to the mall today. Bree and I are going to meet up with Barb, she is from Conn and go to Mimi's Cafe for lunch then to the movies. We are going to see House Bunny.
Well gotta go. talk more next time. Oh Lee gets to stay home and do honey dos.

Wet, Wet, Wet

Looks like Tropical Storm is upon us. It has been raining for about an hour (sometimes hard) and we need the rain. This is kinda nice, it is in the 70's and rain. It will make things even greener (if thats possible) and should make for some really pretty Fall Colors.

Bad thing is we could not walk this morning and we were going to make our walk a 1/2 mile longer. I am really enjoying the walks and seeing the outdoors. It is strange to us to walk and see farms in the back ground with rolling hills all around. As we walk everyone who passes us no matter if they are in a car or sitting on their front porch always say "Hi" or wave. Plus they wave with their hands open not just showing one finger... Ha ha ha ha....

Bledsoe State Park.

http://picasaweb.google.com/LeeandShe.Brandt/BledsoeStatePark

Yesterday we visited Bledsoe State Park to look at camping. It is on Old Hickory Lake not far from home. Very nice place sites were kinda small but doable. We took some pictures and I will post a few as soon as I can. We have been working on the yards getting rid of most of the plants that have done the cycling. (Producing flowers and dying). We are going to try and make our yard as maintenance free as possible. By that I mean lots of bushes. Fall is right around the corner and the Weeping Willow is already losing leaves. That way we can leave and things don't have to be done on a daily bases. We have a neighbor who will do the lawns but to ask anything more would not be right.

The weather here has turned dry (no measurable rain for August) however that could change if Hurricane Fay makes her way up here in the next few days.

Make It A Great Day.....

Sorry

We have not been doing any thing exciting just working around the homestead. We did have a couple come over last night, Barb and Carl. they moved to Cottontown, a little town from here, from Conn. They have been here almost a year. We sat out on the patio and chatted for about 5 hours. WOW we could not believe it when we came into the house after saying good bye and saw the time. It was nice. I got to show off the house. Well I need to get going it's Sunday, we got a fat newspaper, hehehe, and we need to eat and get ready for church. So everyone take care and we will try and post more often.

Vollunteer State Community College

We went to the Local Community College today so we could register Brianna. She filled out the papers and will a packet in the mail with-in the next week or so. It is a very nice campus that is in Gallatin (about 20 miles from home) we are hoping that she can take at least one class just to get her foot in the door. We also got the phone number for Vocational Rehab and Shelia will be calling them and see if there is any help there.

My Poison Ivy is getting much better. Even though I never got my Milkshake and Cheese Burger.

I found a group of RV'ers on line that are setting up some Rallies.. Check it out if you wanna.

Leg is Better

Although it still looks terrible my leg is better. It does not itch or hurt. Shelia made me take it easy today and I did.. My Dad told me that the prednisone will make me hungry. Oh great just what I need being we are right in the middle of our Weight Watchers. Oh will we will see.

It has been requested for us to tell what we bought at the Yard Sales. Well first and foremost I found a rototiller that is in great shape for $200.00. We also bought some yard decorations, a couple of whirligigs, and OLD OLD plow, a beat-up old chair, a pair of loppers. We really wanted to find a Picnic Table and a piece of furniture for the kitchen but could not find them. If I can find a set of plans for a Picnic Table I will build one. (we want the kind that has the benches separate). Heck if I find the plans I may build a few sets and see if I can sell them on Craigslist and make some cash. Hee hee hee... OK TERRY are you happy now? ha ha ha.....

542 Mile Yard Sale

http://picasaweb.google.com/LeeandShe.Brandt/127YardSale

The above set of pictures of the Yard Sale we went on. It we truly amazing these were all over the place. Highway 127 is about 100 miles East of us. The yard sale itself runs north and south from Ohio to Alabama and all of Tennessee. We only traveled about a 1/3 of it and we didn't stop at all of the sales. We spent the night in Sweetwater at a KOA Camp Cabin. (We took the truck for the Yard Sale)..

Now the below picture is of my leg and arm. Let me first say it does NOT HURT it just itches and it looks really bad. SO BEWARE IT IS GROSS... It really look worse then it is. Yes I went to the Doctor (Shelia Made Me) On the leg it is Poison Ivy on top of a burn from the push lawn mower. I burned my leg about 10 days ago and I got into the Poison Ivy last Wed. (I think) thats why it looks so bad. I have a guy coming over Monday and he is going to point out the Poison Ivy so I CAN KIIL IT.... And stay away from it....

Saturday Trip To Nashville

The above is the State Capitol........

Well to day we went to Nashville. I had bought a Rear Tine Rototiller and hated it so I sold to a Nursery in Nashville. This nursery is right in downtown Nashville and I met the nicest guy. He told me all about the downtown area and places to visit. Plus he told me that every once in a while they have specials at the Grand Ole Opry Hotel for $50.00 a night.

From what we have heard is that this hotel is absolutely some thing that has to be seen to believe. So we are going to watch the paper and see if they run any specials and then spend the night there and tour the place. Here is a link to it..

Opry

Oh may goodness. We went to Nashville today. First we went to Opry Mills Mall. What a mall! There is over two hundred stores. Spent a couple hours walking around then had lunch/dinner at Applebees then back to the mall. Then it was time to go to the Opry. Tonight line up was in order of appearance: Jeannie Seely, Luke Bryan (what a cutie) Jesse McReynolds & the Virginia Boys, Keith anderson, Jim Ed Brown, Restless Heart, Rodney Atkins and Trace Adkins. All that for $120. Each group/person did about 15 mins. It was great. WOW Trace is really tall w/long legs. He seems to be very humble. We had a great day.

Saturday July "something"

I know there is a number that goes with today I just don't know what it is. I painted most of the day yesterday and found out something interesting about painting when the humidity is high. Paint DON'T dry. I should have been a city worker here those guys have it made. Ha ha ha... Watching paint dry here must be a blast and time consuming. Anyway we got about 3/4 of an inch of rain yesterday. HAH!!!!! THAT was nothing this morning I woke up at 4:25 and it was pouring and by 4:50 it was done. I just went out and looked at the rain gage and it read 1 1/2 inches. It is truly weird that it can rain that hard in that short of time and not flood. Not to mention the fact thats it's warm. Being I lived in California all my life when it rains there it is cold and to get a inch in a day was a BIG DEAL. Oh yeh I guess I should say it thundered and had lightning too. Well it is starting to rain again. No wonder no one here has sprinklers systems. You don't need them. I do have to see about having gutter put on the garage it is starting to erode the dirt around the slab. Today I will finish painting Brianna's room. Make it a great day...

If you are reading this and can't leave a comment. Send one of us a e-mail so we know who is reading our blog. It is fun writing the blog but sometimes we think we are the only ones that is reading it....

Painting

Well Lee is doing his favorite thing, painting. NOT!! He is painting Brianna's room. I just want to get all her things on the walls and get her new bedspread she bought on her bed. While Lee was painting Bree and I got on the computer and looked up stuff about the Community College. It seems that they have a Special Adult Program for job training we are all going to go check that out next week. We have got to get her involved in something. It is not good for her to just stay in the house all day.

Mini Vacation

http://picasaweb.google.com/LeeandShe.Brandt/BarrenRiverLakeKentucky
Please click on the link above to see the pictures....

I am not sure if Mini vacation is the right words. This place is 41 miles from our front door to where we parked. The campground is really clean and the scenery is awesome. Looking our the door of our Motor Home was all you could see is the Barren River Lake. We (Shelia and I) sat for hours looking at the boats the birds and just everything. It was quite peaceful. Brianna (The Dud) stayed inside most of the time. Oh well her loss. The sunsets were absolutely worth the wait. On one of the pictures you can see the clouds the dark grey line hit about 10 minutes after I took the picture with thunder lightning and RAIN and then 15 minutes later it was clear and sunny. It did make for a beautiful sunset. It was so nice being only an hour form home yet so far away. On the way home we filled up with gas for $3.59 a gallon... What a deal.....

It is Sunday because we got a Big Newspaper Today

Well yesterday we got Lee a new dresser so he has somewhere to put his stuff. It is really nice. We also got the daybed for the den. It is white iron, Bree pick it out. Both pieces was under $600. Lee put up gates across our driveway back by the house today. Our neighbor's son and his friends think our driveway is there skate board park. They do not wear any helmets or pads and we are afraid that while we are gone they may get hurt. Lee talked with them but you know how that is. They are not being punks or anything like that they are just being kids. We should be leaving late tomorrow afternoon to go camping.

Rainy Wednesday

It has been a rainy, cloudy humid day. We have spent most of our day in doors working on the inside of the house. Sunday we were leaving home to go look at a lawnmower when I spotted some book cases at a neighbor's yard sale. We went over to look at them and there was a three feet and two six foot book cases. The only problem was that one of the six foot cases had fallen over and the back of the case had a hole in it. Well the book cases were oak just what we have been looking for so we ending up getting the 3 bookcases and a black iron bistro set for the patio all for just $150. We got the riding lawn mower and spent less then a $1,000 for everything. Lee fixed the back of the bookcase and cleaned them all up and they look great in the living room. So now we get to get the rest of our boxes emptied and then we will start on Bree's room. We have the paint already so later this week will start that project. Well I need to get more boxes done. Talk more later. Have a great night. Oh I took pictures of Lee mowing the front yard on his riding lawn mower I will try and get him to post them.
Bye for now

Kenny Chesney Concert at LP field

Yes that's Kenny Chesney on stage and this kinda shows how far up in the nose bleed section we were. Being new here and not knowing the arena or how the parking is we got here at 10:00am. I wanted to get close parking for Bri because I knew we were WAY up and I knew it would be hard on her. (yes it was) But the show was good and all had a great time. When it finely started it lasted 8 and 1/2 hours. Gary Allen, Leann Rymes, Sammy Hagar, Keith Urban, and of course Kenny Chesney all played their sets. Yes that's Sammy Hagar of Van Halen fame. He was hilarious and did a few Rock-n-Roll tunes and fit right in with the country music fans. Keith Urban was far and above our favorite. We saw him in Sacramento a couple years ago and I (we) gained a whole new respect for him and his performing. The other picture is the Nashville skyline. (Note the Bat building as it's called here)

The following day we drove to Murfreesboro (south of Nashville) and bought a new to us riding mower. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Hooooooooooooooooooo..... I could not use it today because it rained. (we got a 1 and 1/2 in off and on rain in about an hour)

We Survived......

The fireworks stopped about 10:30 and all is well. So far I have not found any evidence of bottle rockets in our yard.

We are off to Nashville today to see Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, and a few other country singers. Should be a fun day the concert don't start until 3:30pm but we will get there early and have a little tail-gate gathering. I want to get there so we can get a decent parking spot it is going to be a long walk for Brianna. Our seats are in the nose bleed section but at least we will be out of the sun.... Hope to get some pictures and I will post them later.

Anothe day in Paradise

Well the good ole boys came out to dig the trenches for the electrical for the garage. Lee had so much fun BSing with the boys. I can't believe it, they were here all morning (there was 4 of them) and they ran the conduit and the wiring from the house to the garage and only charged us $330. WOW we were thinking it was going to be around $800. Well I am cooking potatoes for salad for the 4th. We are going to stay home. The neighbors have been shooting off bottle rockets for the last week so we just want to be around just in case. Hope everyone has a happy and safe 4th.
Love and miss you all

Saving Money and Spending It

Our new couch arrived today and I was the first one to nap on it... Ahhhhhh retirement is so hard to do but someone has to do it. We turned on our A/C for the first time last Friday and then again today...

We found a new way to save some money. Now that I am old and almost bald ( I have been a number 3 for years at the Barber Shop ) I thought what the heck. I will buy a set of clippers for 30 Bucks and in 3 haircuts we are money ahead. So I just tell people that ask what happend to my head I tell them I am a Cancer Survivor..... Shelia will get the hang of it and I would not have to say anything.. HaHaHa...

Corvette Museum..

We took the truck to Bowling Green today to have some work done on it (Had a bedliner sprayed on it) I hooked up Shelia's car and pulled it up there so we would have a vehicle to drive around in.

We never made it to the Corvette Museum today. Instead we went to the Mennonite Area of Kentucky. We followed the map that was giving to us at the visitor center in Bowling Green and the area was wayyyy out there. At one point we could have swore we heard Banjo's playing in the back ground. Then we started to pass some of the farms and there were other people visiting there just like us. "Whew" most of the farms sold produce and baked goods so we bought a few items and toured the country side. By the time we got back it was to late to go to the Museum. So we decided to do that another day. The plant is shut down for change over anyway for the next 2 weeks. They will then start having tours of the assembly plant and we can see the 2009's being built...

3000 Member Chruch

We went to a church that our Realtor and Next door neighbor attend to see a 4th of July celebration (indoors) yes I said indoors. The choir has about 160 people in it and they put on a pretty awesome show. The talent they have is amazing. Everything from Clog dancers to country singers. This place is HUGE it was being inside a movie theater with a full blown stage and a band. The sound system and lighting was a thing you had to see. Plus they had (INDOOR) fireworks and about 1000 balloons and confetti that fell from the ceiling. The place is truly amazing. They are going to do a presentation of the Dead Sea Stripper in Aug. I don't see us attending this a church on a regular bases because it is way to big and it's about 30 miles away.

I finely got someone to come and look at installing electricity to the garage. That will be nice to have and I plan on doing some more work in the side yard so I can park the Motor Home over to the side and start putting Shelia's car in the garage. I am still in the need for a riding lawn mower and I am looking. I am not sure if I want new or buy a used one. I am also thinking about buying a small utility trailer with a ramp gate. Darn ramps for the truck are about $150.00 and I can find a trailer on Craigslist for $300.00

Her Quilt

Yeah I get a old navy blanket........

Yippee my quilt arrived

We just got the quilt that we purchased in Intercourse. Isn't it beautiful!!! I purchased my first one in 1997 from the same little Amish Store. I could not believe that the prices had only gone up about $10.00. As we bake in here we have a nice warm quilt. Oh well we will be happy we have this winter. Hope everyone is doing OK. Make it a great day.

Got the Truck

Today we finely got a truck. We were going to buy a used one but with the deals that the dealers are giving we decided to buy new. It has all the bells and whistles that we want and it fits us. It gets over 20MPG and rides soooooooo smooth.....

We Made It..... What a great time we had

We did a bunch of driving the last 2 days to get home and drove by lots of places we would have liked to stop (maybe someday) The Motor Home ran great and it looks like we averaged 8 miles to the gallon. Fuel was highest in the Northern States then down here by about 30 cents. The scenery was worth it though. I was so nice seeing everyone and spending time with each of them. Tim and Toni and Emily doing great. Also Terry and Carol showed us a wonderful time and we love their house. Marvin and Joan's house is full of antiques. Like I said it was good seeing them all. I hope to make a slide show of some of the pictures we took and post it here so all you have to do is click on the link and watch the show. But that will take me some time to do and I have other pressing things to do. (Like Buying A Truck)..

Take Care and we will post more as time allows..

So long to the Martins

This morning we leave New Hampshire heading to New York to visit Lee's x-boss Marvin and his family. Hope all you Father's out there had a great Father's Day. It rained pretty good most of Saturday night and Sunday was just gray and misty all day. We had a lazy day visiting with the Martins, napping, watching the birds, napping and watching TV. It has been so nice being here. It did not seem like it had been eleven years since we were last here, well except Kenny has gotten a lot taller and he is in college now. Of course Lee and I have not aged at all. hehehe. Well I need to get my butt in gear and get Bree up so that we can get going.
Everyone take it easy and we will be typing more later.
Make it a great day.

Lobster Feast Day

Well we had a FEAST today and it was AWESOME $6.99 a pound. I can't help what it cost in other parts of the country. We made a huge mess and it was GOOD. We have enough to have a Lobster Salad tomorrow for dinner. The weather here has been almost perfect. Mid 70's with a few high clouds. Terry and Carol have a bird feeder in the back yard and all kinds of different kinds of birds come to visit. I wish I knew how to put pictures in here in the order I want them. Maybe one of these days I will figure it out...

Toured The Coast of Maine

Today we toured the coast of Maine with Terry and Carol as our guides. (We were lost all day) ha ha ha.... The picture of us has the Bush Compound behind us at Kennebunkport the day was beautiful in the mid 70's and clear as a bell. The above light house is called The Nubble Light House and is still active it too was beautiful. The stay here with Terry and Carol is so enjoyable it is so nice sitting talking and remembering as much as we can. Tomorrow will be our Lobster Feast and Terry is going to give us lessons on using the riding mower. Actually he is happy to show us because his lawn will get cut and he don't have to do it.

Take Care everyone and stay safe.

Intercourse Shopping and Cruzin

Our Day in Intercourse. One picture I took inside one of the many shops and one of the other pictures are of the traffic. (The Amish have rights on the road way and most everyone cuts them slick) and the othe picture is of our Motor Home and what some of the scenery looks like all around us. That picture was taken about 1 hour before one heck of a Thunder Storm rolled through. (The weather changes in the blink of an eye out here). Shelia bought a quilt from one of the shops. I will take a picture of it when we get home and post it.

We are off to New Hampshire tomorrow so I am not sure when I will have internet again....

Gettysburg National Military Park

Gettysburg NMP is truly amazing and let us awe struck. There is a brand new visitor center here and toured it first and learned about the 3 days of war in Gettysburg and what the people did AFTER the battle. We had never giving it much thought about all the dead and wounded from both sides. It was eye opening to say the least. We bought the auto self tour and did most of the driving tour (it got late in the afternoon so we didn't do the whole tour) the parts we saw were enormous the battle grounds that are preserved for people to see for history is a great thing. There were many many monuments to see. The monuments were tributes to those who fought. They were from the North and the South and it marked spots where they fought. It is so hard to explain and the pictures do it no Justice. I hope to be able to do a slide show of the pictures I took.

We are in Intercourse Pa. and will be until Wednesday..

Todays BBQ

We had BBQ today at Tim and Sissy's it was Deer Tube Steaks with pork and cheese and man were they good.. In fact Tim gave us a couple packs for home.. Yummie....

We are off to Gettysburg and Intercourse tomorrow......

Heat and Humidity

Well the heat and humidity here in the northwest has hit and they are saying that there is a heat index of 100. The air is heavier then we are used to but all and all it is not to bad. Yesterday was the baby shower for Sissy and I guess it was a huge success. I washed the car which was badly needed. After we all went out to dinner and some of us went to the bar to watch Big Brown lose the Belmont. Other then that not much happened. Today we are going over to Tim's (Sissy's Husband) parent's house to have a BBQ.

Take Care

Started Our Trip With A Dead Battery

We got all packed and ready to go and went to start the Motor Home and NOTHING we had a dead battery. I knew it was going bad but I forgot all about it. So I hit the battery boast button and she started. So off we went. We stopped at Sears in Bowling Green KY and bought a new battery and we were on our way an hour later. The drive was uneventful until we got to Lexington KY and the drive through there was on city streets we got turned around only once though and made it through. We are now in Milton WV at a KOA camp ground. Brianna and Shelia are watching TV and we are under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch. Oh goodie I thought I left this in Tennessee. Ha ha ha I have been watching the weather radar and it looks like it is going north of us. So that tells me we may hit it tomorrow..... The joys of traveling....... We will OK.......

Trip to the Northeast

Tomorrow we start a trip Northeast. We are going to Pennsylvania to our Niece Sissy (Toni Marie) and her hubby Tim and their daughter Emily. (Sorry to you both LoL) And then we will head back south to Florida New York and see my old boss Marvin and his wife Joan and their kids. It is going be a slow trip cause us retired people have no dead lines........ Hee hee hee.....

We will post to the blog when and if we have internet.....

Thunder and Lighting...

Well last night at 12:25 the Weather alert radio went off with Severe Thunderstorm Warnings in a Kentucky County just north of us. (I have the Radio set-up to where it goes off if there is any warnings in the counties surrounding us) There was a cold front coming down from the north with a line Thunder Storms ahead of it. (I knew it before I went to bed) Anyway we have 2 Weather Alert Radios and 1 of them didn't work. But the one I just bought a few weeks ago worked like a charm. So we will be getting warnings of Severe weather and it was nice to know it worked. It went off 3 more times as the storm went into different counties keeping us on our toes for about 2 hours. We got a warning for our own county about 5 minutes before the storm got here. When it got here "Oh Boy" was that exciting. Kinda freaked Brianna out but Shelia and I wondered about the house making sure windows were closed and furniture was put away on the deck. (Good thing we did cause the rain was blown on to our deck). All is well with our yards some plants got re-arranged but other then that you can't even tell.

Lawn Day.....

Today Shelia and I cut the lawns. I start by doing all the trimming and the steep spots and she takes over and does the most of it Square Footage wise. While she is doing that I get the weedeater out and do the trimming. It is so nice having her help me it saves about half the time for me to get the yards done. Today it is in the 80's and they are complaining about the heat but to us the heat ain't to bad and the humidity is running in the 70% range. Yes we can feel it but so far so good..... Next week we head off for a 2 and 1/2 week vacation of sorts. I will let Shelia give the details on where we are going...

The T-Shirt Shelia is wearing is one we bought from one of Alex's track meets. Who would have thought that the saying on the back would apply to us.......

Shopping and movie day

Well today we went out to Hendersonville and found a great store it is called Home Goods. Oh it is packed with neat stuff for the house. It reminds of a shop Pam and I went to at Pismo one year. We got Brianna her bedroom comforter and a hamper. I got white and gray kitchen chair pads. Since the kitchen has white cabinets and all the appliances are black that has become by color theme for the kitchen. The dishes I bought from Wal-mart are white w/black flowers. If we only had a truck we found a teakwood patio set and cute table for the kitchen.
We also went to the movies and saw Indiana Jones. It was really good. The theaters just opened in March and they are so nice and roomy. One of the reasons Lee hates to go to the show is that it kills his knees because he is so cramped, but he was very comfortable.
Tomorrow we will be getting the RV ready for our trip to PA. Lee just called our friend Terry in New Hampshire and put in our request for Maine Lobster for Father's day. Yummy!!!!
Sorry ladies but it is also lawn mowing day so I will mow while Lee does some trimming. This time I am going to put Bio-freeze on my back before I start the lawn. Well gotta go. See ya

Wooooo Hooooooo

I can see into the future and there is a RIDING MOWER in it..... LoL... Shelia did a awesome job and I don't think she knows how much it helped me. Not only physically but mentally. It was so awesome seeing her push that %#$@&^% mower it inspired me to. I now can sorta relax knowing that I will get help doing the lawns.

This place is beautiful and the yards is very PLANTED. I was talking to my neighbor this morning and he was saying that the people that lived here before would be working in the yard all day for 2 days straight and then they would be working on the yard all day long. I told him that ROUND-UP is my friend and that things will die and be replaced with lawn. He laughed.... I didn't retire to work this hard and I won't....... LoL....

Again I thank my awesome wife for being who she is.........

I Did It !!!!

I just done with mowing the front and back yard. My goodness what a job. My arms are still shaking. I am such a sissy. Lee did the edging and the weeding. He is putting something on the grass to get rid of bugs and then he will need to water. But I am finished!!!!!!! It should be a nice day today in the mid 80's there maybe some showers later this afternoon. We are still coughing and sniffing but doing better.

Friday, May 23rd

Here comes the heat!!!!!We have been busy working on the house. I got a virus and being the nice person that i am I have given to Brianna and Lee so today we have not done much of anything just open a few more boxes. I am trying to arrange the pictures against the walls where I want Lee to hang them, of course he is already saying "We do not need all these pictures on the wall" Oh well!! Still waiting on our deferred comp $$ so we can go buy a truck so we can get furniture that we need. It does not seem that humid but it is warm about 86. The living room is the room that seems to get the hottest so I think once we get the blinds up that should really help. Well I hope everyone has a happy and safe 3day week-end.

Strawberry Festival Update

http://s271.photobucket.com/albums/jj139/_LeeB_/

Here are a few pictures from the Strawberry Festival... I took these before my camera died... It was cool just watching people. The Festival was right in the middle of town and Highway 109 runs right thru it and in some of the pictures you can see the traffic Semi's included. Highway 109 is a main short cut from Kentucky to East Bound I-40. The Highway was shut down for 2 hours to let the parade go on. What the truckers did I have no clue. The festival was on Saturday only and there was a free concert after at the park featuring Ronnie McDowell and the Jordinairs. (Elvis Presley's back-up group. We did not go because Shelia and Brianna got sun burned while watching people and waiting for the Parade. The temps were in the mid 70's. Next year we will be a little bit more prepared.......

100 Mile Yard Sale.. The Adventure goes On and On

http://s271.photobucket.com/albums/jj139/_LeeB_/Longest%20Strawberry%20Shortcake/100%20Mile%20Yardsale/

I fixed the link to the pictures and I also (THINK) I made it easier to post comments. Let me know...

To explain where the 100 mile yard sale is... We live off highway 109 and 109 goes right thru the middle of town about 5 miles from our street and it crosses highway 52. Highway 52 runs east and west if you turn to the west 52 goes about 20 miles if you turn left on 52 it goes about 80 miles. We went to the left if you will notice people just set up there yard sales any where along the road. I took some pictures as I was driving so you could see the scenery that we live in. We only had the HHR so we could not buy a lot of stuff. Next year we want to take the MH down there and park it put out the awing and sell stuff... LoL We bought the bell, two small wooden wheels, and the little chair that we now have in our back yard..... I hope I was able to explain this. All I can say is we have never seen anything like this and it was truly amazing...

I sure hope the link works
