Opry

Oh may goodness. We went to Nashville today. First we went to Opry Mills Mall. What a mall! There is over two hundred stores. Spent a couple hours walking around then had lunch/dinner at Applebees then back to the mall. Then it was time to go to the Opry. Tonight line up was in order of appearance: Jeannie Seely, Luke Bryan (what a cutie) Jesse McReynolds & the Virginia Boys, Keith anderson, Jim Ed Brown, Restless Heart, Rodney Atkins and Trace Adkins. All that for $120. Each group/person did about 15 mins. It was great. WOW Trace is really tall w/long legs. He seems to be very humble. We had a great day.

Saturday July "something"

I know there is a number that goes with today I just don't know what it is. I painted most of the day yesterday and found out something interesting about painting when the humidity is high. Paint DON'T dry. I should have been a city worker here those guys have it made. Ha ha ha... Watching paint dry here must be a blast and time consuming. Anyway we got about 3/4 of an inch of rain yesterday. HAH!!!!! THAT was nothing this morning I woke up at 4:25 and it was pouring and by 4:50 it was done. I just went out and looked at the rain gage and it read 1 1/2 inches. It is truly weird that it can rain that hard in that short of time and not flood. Not to mention the fact thats it's warm. Being I lived in California all my life when it rains there it is cold and to get a inch in a day was a BIG DEAL. Oh yeh I guess I should say it thundered and had lightning too. Well it is starting to rain again. No wonder no one here has sprinklers systems. You don't need them. I do have to see about having gutter put on the garage it is starting to erode the dirt around the slab. Today I will finish painting Brianna's room. Make it a great day...

If you are reading this and can't leave a comment. Send one of us a e-mail so we know who is reading our blog. It is fun writing the blog but sometimes we think we are the only ones that is reading it....

Painting

Well Lee is doing his favorite thing, painting. NOT!! He is painting Brianna's room. I just want to get all her things on the walls and get her new bedspread she bought on her bed. While Lee was painting Bree and I got on the computer and looked up stuff about the Community College. It seems that they have a Special Adult Program for job training we are all going to go check that out next week. We have got to get her involved in something. It is not good for her to just stay in the house all day.

Mini Vacation

Please click on the link above to see the pictures....

I am not sure if Mini vacation is the right words. This place is 41 miles from our front door to where we parked. The campground is really clean and the scenery is awesome. Looking our the door of our Motor Home was all you could see is the Barren River Lake. We (Shelia and I) sat for hours looking at the boats the birds and just everything. It was quite peaceful. Brianna (The Dud) stayed inside most of the time. Oh well her loss. The sunsets were absolutely worth the wait. On one of the pictures you can see the clouds the dark grey line hit about 10 minutes after I took the picture with thunder lightning and RAIN and then 15 minutes later it was clear and sunny. It did make for a beautiful sunset. It was so nice being only an hour form home yet so far away. On the way home we filled up with gas for $3.59 a gallon... What a deal.....

It is Sunday because we got a Big Newspaper Today

Well yesterday we got Lee a new dresser so he has somewhere to put his stuff. It is really nice. We also got the daybed for the den. It is white iron, Bree pick it out. Both pieces was under $600. Lee put up gates across our driveway back by the house today. Our neighbor's son and his friends think our driveway is there skate board park. They do not wear any helmets or pads and we are afraid that while we are gone they may get hurt. Lee talked with them but you know how that is. They are not being punks or anything like that they are just being kids. We should be leaving late tomorrow afternoon to go camping.

Rainy Wednesday

It has been a rainy, cloudy humid day. We have spent most of our day in doors working on the inside of the house. Sunday we were leaving home to go look at a lawnmower when I spotted some book cases at a neighbor's yard sale. We went over to look at them and there was a three feet and two six foot book cases. The only problem was that one of the six foot cases had fallen over and the back of the case had a hole in it. Well the book cases were oak just what we have been looking for so we ending up getting the 3 bookcases and a black iron bistro set for the patio all for just $150. We got the riding lawn mower and spent less then a $1,000 for everything. Lee fixed the back of the bookcase and cleaned them all up and they look great in the living room. So now we get to get the rest of our boxes emptied and then we will start on Bree's room. We have the paint already so later this week will start that project. Well I need to get more boxes done. Talk more later. Have a great night. Oh I took pictures of Lee mowing the front yard on his riding lawn mower I will try and get him to post them.
Bye for now

Kenny Chesney Concert at LP field

Yes that's Kenny Chesney on stage and this kinda shows how far up in the nose bleed section we were. Being new here and not knowing the arena or how the parking is we got here at 10:00am. I wanted to get close parking for Bri because I knew we were WAY up and I knew it would be hard on her. (yes it was) But the show was good and all had a great time. When it finely started it lasted 8 and 1/2 hours. Gary Allen, Leann Rymes, Sammy Hagar, Keith Urban, and of course Kenny Chesney all played their sets. Yes that's Sammy Hagar of Van Halen fame. He was hilarious and did a few Rock-n-Roll tunes and fit right in with the country music fans. Keith Urban was far and above our favorite. We saw him in Sacramento a couple years ago and I (we) gained a whole new respect for him and his performing. The other picture is the Nashville skyline. (Note the Bat building as it's called here)

The following day we drove to Murfreesboro (south of Nashville) and bought a new to us riding mower. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Hooooooooooooooooooo..... I could not use it today because it rained. (we got a 1 and 1/2 in off and on rain in about an hour)

We Survived......

The fireworks stopped about 10:30 and all is well. So far I have not found any evidence of bottle rockets in our yard.

We are off to Nashville today to see Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, and a few other country singers. Should be a fun day the concert don't start until 3:30pm but we will get there early and have a little tail-gate gathering. I want to get there so we can get a decent parking spot it is going to be a long walk for Brianna. Our seats are in the nose bleed section but at least we will be out of the sun.... Hope to get some pictures and I will post them later.

Anothe day in Paradise

Well the good ole boys came out to dig the trenches for the electrical for the garage. Lee had so much fun BSing with the boys. I can't believe it, they were here all morning (there was 4 of them) and they ran the conduit and the wiring from the house to the garage and only charged us $330. WOW we were thinking it was going to be around $800. Well I am cooking potatoes for salad for the 4th. We are going to stay home. The neighbors have been shooting off bottle rockets for the last week so we just want to be around just in case. Hope everyone has a happy and safe 4th.
Love and miss you all

Saving Money and Spending It

Our new couch arrived today and I was the first one to nap on it... Ahhhhhh retirement is so hard to do but someone has to do it. We turned on our A/C for the first time last Friday and then again today...

We found a new way to save some money. Now that I am old and almost bald ( I have been a number 3 for years at the Barber Shop ) I thought what the heck. I will buy a set of clippers for 30 Bucks and in 3 haircuts we are money ahead. So I just tell people that ask what happend to my head I tell them I am a Cancer Survivor..... Shelia will get the hang of it and I would not have to say anything.. HaHaHa...

Corvette Museum..

We took the truck to Bowling Green today to have some work done on it (Had a bedliner sprayed on it) I hooked up Shelia's car and pulled it up there so we would have a vehicle to drive around in.

We never made it to the Corvette Museum today. Instead we went to the Mennonite Area of Kentucky. We followed the map that was giving to us at the visitor center in Bowling Green and the area was wayyyy out there. At one point we could have swore we heard Banjo's playing in the back ground. Then we started to pass some of the farms and there were other people visiting there just like us. "Whew" most of the farms sold produce and baked goods so we bought a few items and toured the country side. By the time we got back it was to late to go to the Museum. So we decided to do that another day. The plant is shut down for change over anyway for the next 2 weeks. They will then start having tours of the assembly plant and we can see the 2009's being built...
